This article highlights the malnutrition issues in Kenya. It touches on a certain illness caused by severe malnutrition that is called, Oedema. Oedema can cause the swelling of organs and virtually the entire body, to make it seem as if one is rapidly gaining weight. Unfortunately, this type of malnutrition can cause death and is often mistaken in 3rd world health clinics. Another problem is that many Kenyan religious or ethnic groups prohibit going healthcare centers or hospitals, so malnutrition is responsible for many deaths each year, especially in children under the age of 5 years old. "Saving our planet, lifting people out of poverty,
advancing economic growth... these are one and the same fight. We must connect
the dots between climate change, water scarcity, energy shortages, global
health, food security and women's empowerment. Solutions to one problem must be
solutions for all."
